What is a Sump Pump?

A Sump Pump is a pump that is use to remove any water that has accumulated in the basin of a home, which is usually the basement.  Obviously, not all homes require a Sump Pump, just those with basements that often floods.  A Sump Pump is use to send water away from the house to any place where it is no longer problematic, such as a storm drain.

A Sump Pump can be plugged into an outlet or even hard wired into your electrical unit. Many Sump Pump have a backup battery to ensure that the pump will work even through a power outage.  If you’re looking to purchase a Sump Pump you may want to start at your local hardware store, where there should be several different options to choose from.
