Leaves are changing, rain is sporadically pouring on and off, and the drop in temperature is definitely here.  As a precaution, Winterizing Outside Water Faucets are a must before temperature reaches freezing.  Here are some simple instructions to Winterizing Outside Water Faucets before we are greeted by Jack Frost.

Now you will have to find the water shutoff valve inside the home.  The shutoff valve is usually located in the basement, crawlspace, by the water heater, or in the garage.  Once that is done turn the knob clockwise to turn it off.

Continue by turning on the outside faucets to release all of the remaining water in the drain.  Once all the water is gone, go ahead tighten the handle, and turn it off.

Step 4 to Winterizing Outside Water Faucets:

Steps 1-3 is the ideal way to Winterizing Outside Water Faucets.  However, you may also choose to insulate the outdoor faucets by purchasing an inexpensive insulated cover found at your local hardware store.  These are very simple to install and will provide some protection against the upcoming freezing temperatures.
