The cold rain and the slick roads can only mean that Jack Frost is visiting our beloved Portland.  To prepare ourselves from the chill, here are some Portland Winter Plumbing Tips that are sure to make your seasonal transition a bit easier.

Take those garden hose and disconnect them from the faucet.

Check the outdoor pipes to see if it needs new caulking.

Protect all outside faucets and hose bibs with insulation.  As well as indoor pipes in unheated areas such as the basement crawlspace or attics.

When temperatures plummet to below freezing leave your faucets with a slight drip of cold water to help avoid freezing.  Also, open cupboard doors in the bathroom and kitchen. By doing so, that will help with heat circulation to the indoor pipes.
